In 1843 a visionary Englishman named Henry Roberts opened the doors of “the English and American Chemist and Druggist”  on Florence’s famed Via Tornabuoni. He soon gained renown among both international members of the jet-set and elite Florentines for his exclusive in-house preparations of

natural beauty and health remedies.

Eventually “the English and American Chemist and Druggist” became known to many as a name associated with excellence and innovation, as branches of the apothecary were opened in various European cities.  Roberts’ invention of talcum powder drew further acclaim and attention to the establishment.
